Shaoguan starts COVID-19 vaccination for foreign nationals
Starting from May 20, 2021, Shaoguan provides domestically-produced COVID-19 vaccines to foreign nationals in the city subject to local age eligibility restrictions based on the principles of “informed consent, voluntariness, self-paying, and own risk-bearing”. Shaoguan currently uses domestically-developed inactivated COVID-19 vaccines, and two doses are required for the entire course.
Foreign nationals who are aged 18 to 59, some aged over 60 who need to be vaccinated for special reasons, and those who have good physical conditions can get vaccinated voluntarily.
2. Vaccination site
Yue Bei People’s Hospital is the sole designated vaccination site for foreign nationals. Address: No. 133, Huiminnan Road, Shaoguan.
1)Appointment via WeChat
Foreign nationals who wish to be vaccinated can make an appointment through the WeChat service platform Yuejiantong (“粤健通”) (scan the QR code below). Sign in “Guangdong Covid-19 vaccination service for foreigners” and complete and confirm the personal details including full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, type of ID document, ID number, residential address, whether participating in Social Security Medical Insurance. After the appointment is successfully made, an appointment QR code will be generated in the Yuejiantong service platform and a confirmation SMS message will be sent to the applicants.
Foreign nationals who wish to be vaccinated can contact Yuebei People’s Hospital (Call 0751-6913273) to make an appointment. The doctors will inform the applicants of the inoculation date.
The applicants go to the Yuebei People’s Hospital at the appointed time for vaccinations with the confirmation SMS message and appointment QR code as well as their permanent residence ID cards or their passports. Applicants appointed through phone calls go to the hospital as doctors’ instructions.
5. Inoculation fee
1) Free of charge
Foreign nationals who present the Guangdong Provincial Medical Insurance Payment Record or the E-cert for medical insurance or passport/permanent residence ID card of China’s reciprocal countries on site can be vaccinated for free.
2)At applicants’ own expense
Foreign nationals who cannot present the certificates mention above can get the COVID-19 vaccine at their own expense. The cost is RMB 100/ dose.
6. Precautions for vaccination
Before the vaccination, foreign nationals are required to sign both Informed Consent for COVID-19 Vaccination in Guangdong and Letter of Commitment on Receiving Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine(Vero Cell) on site and inform their health condition so that medical professionals can decide whether they are suitable for vaccination. Foreign nationals are suggested to take necessary personal protections on the way to the hospital. After the vaccination, foreign nationals should stay at the observation area of the vaccination for 30 minutes after being inoculated and make sure no adverse reaction occurs. Foreign nationals should also pay close attention to their health status within 14 days upon inoculation and go to the hospital promptly for medical advice in case of any adverse response.
